Chrono Cross remaster and other Nintendo Direct games also coming to Steam and other consoles

Several titles announced at yesterday's Nintendo Direct will also be coming to other platforms. The Chrono Cross remaster, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dream, will be launching on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam as well as Switch on April 7.

A game that was not in the American or European version of the Direct, called The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Steam on May 12. It is a live-action FMV game about a family who've had a series of mysterious murders over the last hundred years, and the players must solve cases in 1922, 1972, and 2022. It is being directed by Koichiro Ito, a former writer for Kojima Productions. The game will be translated into English, so it's unclear why it was left out of the American and European Directs.

The KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series, a remaster of the first two games in the KLONOA series, will be launching on Switch July 8, but according to a press release sent to the GBAtemp press inbox it will also be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A trailer on the European Namco Bandai YouTube page also mentions it will be coming to all platforms, though neither one makes it clear whether it will be on July 8 or at a later date.

Finally, SD Gundam Battle Alliance will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and Steam sometime in 2022, as confirmed by a trailer uploaded to Namco Bandai's YouTube page.

I'd somehow love to have the Switch port of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (which is actually the Wii port) on PC too since it's very different to the official PC version (which is the same as the PS and XB versions).
Still glad it will make its way to the Switch though. Also there's Ryujinx and yuzu.

I hope this Chrono Cross remaster is indicative of Square wanting to continue the Chrono series, it's too good to only have retro players' attention.

I only ever played the PS4 version. What are the main differences?

Good to hear that they'll be releasing them for the other systems as well and not just the Switch, easy money for them.

The level design is completely different, the gameplay is a little different, the visual style is (obviously it looks better on PS4 and PC), it has motion control that really makes sense and is fun to play (not many Wii titles archieved this) and it has a fantastic multiplayer mode which is pure fan service as it has so many force users that aren't even canon any longer and are not port of the story mode.

Edit: There are even more different versions than I thought:

Considering I had a rough opinion about FFVIII Remastered, I'm gonna hold my breath with Chrono Cross until it comes out.

And while I'm super hyped to play Klonoa again, I can't help but worry about the lightning quality shown in Klonoa 2. Hope they'll polish it until July.

Klonoa is just a port of the Wii version, as far as I can tell.

I was hoping it would be the PS1 version, because I LOVE that one visually. For many reasons. Unique, atmospheric, charming, etc. By comparison, the Wii version is just a basic 2000s-era cartoon 3D game. Really not interesting to look at imo, although I appreciated that they made it from the ground up back then because it suggested some care went into it. So maybe the Wii version is a fine game, I mean I’m sure it is. I just think it lacks the aesthetic to be a nostalgic dream-like experience, which is how I’d describe the original.

Also pretty sure Wii has the exact same OST as the PS1 version, which is great. an incredible soundtrack, my goodness. Never remix it plz

Would've preferred a Klonoa Collection with all the console/handheld games included, even without being remastered.

I knew there was no way Chrono Cross was going to be Switch exclusive.
Maybe they'll do a second volume with those, but wouldn't bet on it. I'm surprised we're even getting Klonoa at all, not sure how many still remember that little guy.

I'll be buying a special edition if there is one because.. it's Klonoa! :)

well...hopefully klonoa actually does well this time around. holy shit has bandai really dropped the ball HARD in the past with how they handled putting this series out there be it branding or advertising.

    @Xdqwerty, Nice. Which operating system are you installing?

    @SylverReZ, windows 10 and some linux distro like linux mint

    @Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.

    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
    I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

    I also recall my brother downloded a "non bloated" version of windows 11 on his pc

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
    @Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.

OK no problem the issue is he would download DBZ movies and they where amazing usually like 2-8KB in size lol can't remember how many times I had to format and reinstall windows over his stupidity. I even explained to him about file sizes multiple times...
