Steins;Gate, the visual novel about time travelling students, is set to receive yet another video game addition and... a live-action TV series! The announcement comes as part of the series' 10th anniversary celebration.

Titled Steins;Gate 0 Elite, the game will be a followup to last year's Steins;Gate Elite. It will most likely follow the visual novel template of the series, although the platforms it will release on and the release date have not been made public. The game is said to be "in development".

Also announced was the live-action Hollywood TV series adaptation. It will be handled by Skydance Television which worked on Altered Carbon. No further information has been made available about this project either, but we will report once we learn more.

One of my favourite stories of all time but not really positive about a hollywood adaptation if we've seen how all of those went. A japan live action would be the way to go. Pretty sure the hollywood adaptation will have politics and PC, feminist propaganda blended into it. Was he? I thought he felt that life would be easier for him as a woman since he was already rather feminine and (probably more importantly) had romantic feelings for a man. I don't recall him ever confirming that he identified as a woman. It has been a while since I've watched the anime though and I haven't gotten around to playing the Visual Novel, so I could certainly be wrong.

As for Steins; Gate 0 Elite, I'll definitely be picking that up when it comes out, at the very least to continue my collection. The live-action adaptation I'm a bit leery of. I can't recall any good hollywood live-action adaptations of a Japanese franchise, unless Erased counts as one. That one was good.

I don't believe they have said what they identify as (and assuming is just wrong) so I'd just use they/them until confirmation (even though this is fictional work)
They do show rather feminine characteristics, but..... who's to say those characteristics are inherently feminine? (insert contemplating while holding chin emoji here cuz I can't seem to find it)

at best all you can definitively claim is he's either a Gay or Bi Trap.

in any medium its never hinted at or outright explained he believes he is a female trapped in a male body.
what we do know is he believed to have romantic feelings towards Okabe.

the visual novel covers it better than the anime but In many instances, he clarifies to people that he is, in fact, male as well as uses male pronouns,

so while we have zero proof he is Trans, actual fans that follow all the material of the anime/manga have definitive proof by the character himself he isn't.
which is why you can't even believe it's implied but unstated.


Traps are a common thing in, Anime/Manga/Otaku culture it is separate and in most cases unrelated to being Trans and its these kinds of fringe western PC/SJW identitarian ideas people project on the medium as well as proposed censorship etc. that make anime fans worried about the medium going mainstream because many people judge without knowing source material or even undstanding the culture it comes from.

I think whether Luka is trans/gay/non-binary is beside the point - it's still silly to be afraid of Steins;Gate becoming "too PC and SJW" when source material was never shy with topics like homosexuality and men's femininity to begin with.

Bluh. this why i won’t ever try a visual novel. they have you play as a gay man or a female or trani. Visual novels are anti-straight male. Phoenix Wright would be the sole except but according to the game developers, it doesn’t count as a visual novel. It’s a shame, because i love choose your own adventure type stories.

which is why no matter whether you believe the facts or some narrative about it shouldn't have an impact on whether you like the series because its not a pivotal part of the story

as i pointed out correcting the facts is important, the last thing I'd want is a Hollywood adaptation to be extra "woke" (as they tend to be in recent years)
because they see comments like Enryx25's with no push back correcting it. because they see another opportunity to pander at the detriment of the work they are adapting.

I dont worry about Japanese Companies pandering much because they have been shown to be largely immune to that, however, Hollywood/ western interpretations, on the other hand, have shown the opposite. (see some of the dub SJW additions and/or censorship within the anime industry for example, let alone identitarianism injected in western media to its detriment for examples)
