In this day, it is usually the first piece and an actual detailed birth certificate is issued later. 40 years ago, I can't say the laws were the same. The Certificate of Live Birth is all you really need though to receive all the benefits of and to be considered a US citizen.

If it was just certification of live birth, that could potentially be a problem. In this case though, it should be perfectly fine. Unless somebody wants to dig out some Hawaiian law from when Obama was born to try their hardest to disprove this, I feel all should be content.

Do people not think that candidates have to be pre-approved to even run for president?

The Obama team made it clear he was born in Hawaii during the election campaign and he was have been able to run as President because there are conditions he has to fulfill like being born in the country. And he fulfills those conditions. Unless you're a fucking idiot who believes there was some sort of conspiracy in 1961, to make sure Obama would eventually become President by the New World Order. This seems to profess differently.

It seems to me, and the searches that I have conducted, not to mention my family members that have been born in Hawaii...it seems the "certificate of live birth" has always been the name of the legal document that records the birth of a child AT LEAST since 1966.
