"In an interview with ABC News, Scott Moffitt, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Nintendo, said that in addition to Wii discs being backwards-compatible on the new Wii U, digital game collections purchased over the Wii Virtual Console will also be transferable over to the Wii U, likely remaining at standard definition."

So thats great news, my question to you is.

How will this work?

and what do you think will happen if you have HBC installed?

Umm... I think he meant channels purchased off of the Wii Shop Channel. Similar to how PSN works. So nothing would happen.

Ugh why did that pop up "by JoostinOnline" o.o

Anyway, I'm just assuming Nintendo will throw in a 4.4 Update that adds more exploit fixes and adds a new "feature" of transfering your channels or VC games.

Also: I'm on 4.3

Unless the transfer is done locally instead of online, you shouldn't need to update your System Menu past 4.1 (4.2+ only blocks exploits and runs a test that, if it passes, bricks your Wii).

So in short, if an update is necessary at all, I wouldn't expect it to be anything besides a Shop Channel update. They'll probably throw in a 4.4 anyway, considering the new IOS and boot2 revisions that have come on new Wii's though.

Ah. Thanks for the info. I'm not exactly up-to-date in terms of Wii knowledge. I'm probably going to skip the Wii U anyway.

Smash Stack should still work, nothing that writes to the NAND should work. As for the transfer I doubt it will copy over certain titles.

I don't think you understand how the Wii works.
Considering I used the Twilight Hack since it was in alpha, and followed the scene since it was in it's infancy (unlike you), I think I know how the Wii works shithead.

EDIT just to explain more, Smash Stack, if it does work on the Wii U, would allow homebrew to load and access the SD slot, USB and stuff, but anything like IOS's and channel installation wouldn't work due to there being no IOS exploit, unless Nintendo is just idiotic with there security again that is.

Actually so did I, but if you think that the System Menu has anything to do with how a loader works, then you are confused. The System Menu is an independent piece of software. When other software is running, such as a game or any form of homebrew (like backup loaders), the System Menu is NOT running.

I don't know why you blew up, or why you thought you knew when I first hacked my Wii. Perhaps I misunderstood your post. If that's the case, please explain why you think backup loaders won't work.

Edit: Fudge, we were discussing Wii updates, not homebrew on the Wii U. You can't blame me for not knowing you were talking about something completely different.

And what is to stop Nintendo from actually fixing the Smash Stack method by doing what the 3DS currently does with updated 3DS games, and patch the game on-the-fly when the game binary is loaded? Even if it is a Wii game, the Wii U OS has to handle that section anyways.

There's something I do not understand from all that, if the titles downloaded from the Wiishop is going to be transferred by linking the two accounts or something, how will the saves get transferred? It is not like the saves have anything to do with the Wiishop.

It's very likely that the Wii U will be compatible with the Wii save format, both for retail and downloadable titles.

Well, the Wii U is backwards compatible with Wii software.
