F-Zero returns in the form of the battle royale F-Zero 99

After years of fans begging for a new F-Zero game, Nintendo has delivered, in the form of F-Zero 99, a battle royale 99-player game. Looking and playing similarly to the SNES F-Zero, this game lets you use cars and tracks from the original to race against tons of other players in hopes of winning. The game is out later today, and is exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

Can't wait to play this, tbh.

I'm curious though if some reverse engineering capable genius may be able to leverage that game to make an actual standalone successor to f-zero SNES, community focused with custom levels and community online servers

They are getting a new game.
Did you not read the post?
My implications were that it's barely even a "new" game considering it's a low effort battle royale game that reuses old assets and likely won't last very long (see Super Mario Bros. 35). Especially considering many fans had expected a brand new game
