Not really, jamais vu is 1.0 only, there wont be mariko units on 1.0 unless nintendo does a massive fuckup with the bootloader.

Update to latest without burning fuses, downgrade back to 3.0.0 later when untethered is released.

yes if you don't want to update your game cart slot! I prefer autorcm anyway no more jig! But most of the time I leave the switch in sleep mode hardly loses any charge!

It's not that you NEED it. It's used to make sure you never ever boot through Nintendo's bootloader (in which case, fuses will be burnt automatically). You could achieve the same never turning off the console after running a CFW, or having a jig with 100% success rate every time you boot to go into RCM. But autoRCM is more convenient that all of that, obviously.

@naddel81 just wait until the untethered released if you can wait a little bit more or update without burning fuses, but atmosphère will be released soon so if you never use jig don't do this so near of the released and dodge any risk

You can easily convert from xci to nsp.

There are other exploits that will not be make public. I suspect something will be revealed pretty soon (around the 2nd half of September), but almost certain at least one different exploit will be make public once the Mariko devices are on the wild (January?).

Exactly. I was in your very same position a few weeks back, hanging on 3.0.0 for the potential of a untethered exploit. But I said "meh fuck it" and did the procedure you just described and am now happily enjoying my switch until an eventual 3.0.0 exploit shows up.

Theoretically speaking yes but the evidence thus far says otherwise. Regardless, pirating period automatically increases your chances of getting banned.
