Bubble Bobble makes a comeback as a Switch exclusive with Bubble Bobble 4 Friends

It has been a long time since we've seen a new Bubble Bobble game; 10 years, in fact, have passed since the most recent entry in the series: Bubble Bobble Plus, for the Nintendo Wii. And after a slight hibernation, the franchise is back, as Taito has announced Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. This new game will feature the typical single and two-player options that previous Bubble Bobble games have had, but will also include a hectic four-player co-op mode. There will be both physical and digital versions for the game, which launches November 19th in Europe, and Q1 2020 for North America.

I have the subscription, but haven't touched Tetris yet. I don't fully understand, you have to purchase Tetris 99 to play it without the subscription is what you're saying yes? So that's the game, what is this DLC?
Exactly.

The process is you download the base game which is Free ($0.00)
If you have nintendo online sub, you can play the online mode
If you do not, then you can pay $9.99 for the single player mode (Listed as DLC)

Besides that, the game premiered as a online subscribe game only game, due to the fact that this single player DLC option didn't exist at the time of release.

How come?
Remakes don't bring anything new to the table. I'd like to see how video games evolve and come up with new ways to play, instead of makovers for age-old games.
I see little value in video games playing it safe just to be profitable, and currently there seem to be a lot of such titles even without the remakes.
Emulation or maybe just releasing the game as it is on newer hardware for archivings sake is fine though.

This game was really important to me because as a young child i was traumatized by bubbles and had developed a crippling phobia when i first started playing this franchise it was too much for me to handle my hands would sweat and i couldn't hold the controller after awhile though i got used to the game and eventually all hesitation faded. Then in the real world i came into proximity of bubble action that in the past would have sent me gunning in the opposite direction but i just stood there and let a bubble actually sting me and that was it like that i overcame it all and can be around bubbles without a flinch. I can't wait for this new game i might get it if the graphics don't such.

This is me after playing the first bubble game https://physics.aps.org/assets/4e506b9c-5b1e-41b5-9da6-e9b23e7e79b9/e21_1.png

Taito is still in business? :wtf:
Taito does a fair amount of japan-only arcade stuff still. They have an entire chain of arcades called Taito Station. If you care about rhythm games, Groove Coaster is also made by Taito. It's on Steam, but apparently the port is a mess. The arcade version is very unique and great fun though. Apparently they decided last year that arcade-only wasn't really doing it for them and they decided to start making console games again, so we might see more of them in the future. Apparently they're owned by Square-Enix nowadays.

Oh hey its the retroarch logo
It's been Taito's official logo since 1988, long before Retroarch was a thing :P

Nice, but what I'm really hoping for is a revival of the Puzzle Bobble (AKA Bust-a-Move) franchise. If I'm not mistaken, the last one that came out was on the 3DS, and it was a launch game, years ago.

To be fair remakes can probably entice people more, old fans and new fans alike, with less money and time effort than making a completely new game. Especially when it was such a long time since a new entry came out.

What do you think of Sonic Mania Plus? Is not exactly a remake, but parts of it are.
