Too many people try to center the discussion on the fact that we're divided, as if that's the entire problem. It's what we're divided about that's much more important: only one party presents any path forward for this country, while the other consists entirely of contrarians and reactionaries. Hater-ass SOBs basically, who define themselves entirely by what it is they oppose instead of what they hold dear in their own morals and values. It's been nearly a decade since Republicans put forth an actual policy platform at their national convention, and only about a year since the "we are all domestic terrorists" scrawl at that event.

The Democratic party at large has any number of flaws itself, which just makes the Republicans' collapse even more problematic. A two-party system was bad enough even when both consisted of somewhat-reasonable adults, a one-party system cannot stand for long at all.

The only "rights" I've seen being taken away lately is the recent pride parade issues. Compared to the majority of the democrats fighting "assault weapons" and promoting sanctuary cities which then turn into shitholes. I can't see much of a comparison in terms of immediate issues.

The stuff going on with the LGBT people isn't as targeted as they seem to make it be from what I've seen. Is there something wrong with banning kids from possibly explicit events? If there is, why limit them to that, remove the age limit from burlesque shows as well right?

Everyone is so fixated on Trump, but why? Like keeping the economy good isn't a bad thing right? And Biden has certainly done a ton of harm to it since being in office so where's the issue with him? Where's all the issue with all the other politicians that have openly admitted to things, or been announced that the FBI has stopped "investigating" them. I don't know every state's current situation with anti-trans or whatever laws being proposed, and I don't care what people identify as and their free to, but guns are a right that was given to the people to fight back should the government become tyrannical. If you can't see the reasoning behind it when the military power of a nation like ours only gets more sophisticated by the day then I don't know what to tell you. No, I don't think you need a 30-round magazine to go hunting, and that's not why we have the right. Shootings are a tragedy, but they happen due to mental illness among other things which definitely should be looked into and given aid.
