Gee, that must be fucking nice.So my mother went and bought a duplex building with what savings she had
although she could have bought it so you wouldn't have been homeless either, just sayin.

We never lived in it ourselves, it was strictly a rental property. We didn't need it, we were in the middle of building a house ourselves and were living in a trailer on the property we were building on. (And I mean, building it ourselves. My mother researched and got herself BuildBlock certified to assemble an ICF house, and we were literally doing it ourselves)Gee, that must be fucking nice.

Regardless of where the money came from, most people don't have the luxury of having startup money like that, from settlements or otherwise. We're stuck on the bottom, at the mercy of landlords. We never lived in it ourselves, it was strictly a rental property. And the money came from a settlement from our stepfather dying in a car accident. He was driving a semi truck, and somebody tried to intentionally cause an accident to be able to sue for money, and he swerved off the road to avoid hitting them. That rental property took a huge chunk of the money, and we wound up having to sell the property we were building on in order to start over with the leftover materials on a small piece of property my grandparents sold my mother to be able to build a much smaller house. My mother and younger brother are actually having to stay at my grandparents while finishing the house. So yeah, not nearly as "fucking nice" as you think.
Get a better job then, or move to somewhere cheaper. If you're living beyond your means you need to think about your long term options. One things for sure, staying in the same place with the same qualifications and job prospects isn't going to improve your life in the long term. You need to learn to take control of your own destiny at some point or you will be stuck in the same life until you die.Regardless of where the money came from, most people don't have the luxury of having startup money like that, from settlements or otherwise. Or, instead of uselessly blaming individuals for systemic problems, we could raise minimum wage to a living wage and put cap on the maximum rent landlords are allowed to charge. Owning land is not the same thing as having a job, and so it should pay less than minimum wage itself, if it's going to pay anything at all.Get a better job then, or move to somewhere cheaper.
Exactly. Instead of puting a bandaid over a problem, I'd rather fix the problem at the root.Or, instead of uselessly blaming individuals for systemic problems, we could raise minimum wage to a living wage and put cap on the maximum rent landlords are allowed to charge. If you keep importing migrants into your country and not building houses the prices for those ones that are free goes up. This is the basic rules of supply and demand. When you increase peoples wages and print money from thin air (As the Biden Admin did) all you do is devalue your currency and inflation goes up on everything because your money is worth less.Exactly. There are more empty houses than there are homeless people in the US. I'm guessing the same is true of the UK. You're letting grifters sell you the illusion of scarcity in order to try to justify the unjustifiable. Both nations have the money and resources to solve the problem, it just gets spent on corporate welfare and a massively overbloated military budget instead.Less people and more housing keeps prices for housing lower.
More people and limited housing - keeps prices high.
Buy or rent one of those "Empty" houses then. Also I suggest you do some proper research on why rents are high, rather than listening to some socialist numbskulls opinion. There are more empty houses than there are homeless people in the US. You apparently haven't been paying attention to the fact that corporations are buying up single-family homes in mass in order to artificially inflate the market. Even McDonald's has gotten into real estate. As a result, almost none of the small houses available right now are worth their asking price.Buy one of those "Empty" houses then.
Because they can be, landlords will charge whatever they think they can get away with. Regulation is desperately needed before we end up repeating the 2008 housing crash. Also I suggest you do some proper research on why rents are high

You have a few options - stop migration and build lots of housing.
Keep migration high, don't build houses and pay more for your housing and taxes to pay for those extra people that need to use all your other services.
It's not rocket science, but your governemt are to blame for this, they wasted your taxes, printed money, made enemies througout the world, opened your borders. Those people like Nancy Pelosi and her ilk were all buying shares in pharmaceutical companies and arms companies (that they profit from) etc, they all made lots of money and the tax payer (you) are paying for them to Arm other countries and live a life of excess while you sit in your box and compain about the prices of everything.
I am well aware that Blackrock has been buying up housing and real estate for inflated prices so they can rent them out to you later at inflated prices. I am also aware that Bill gates has been buying up huge amounts of farm land and water rights and that he wants you to eventually eat bugs. I am also aware that Farmers in the western world are being put out of business through regulation and forced land buys. Your banks are wanting you to have a digital currency so they can cut off your wealth anytime they want - Ask a canadian trucker about this. You apparently haven't been paying attention to the fact that corporations are buying up single-family homes in mass in order to artificially inflate the market. And you're perfectly fine with that practice? You don't believe it should be made illegal?I am well aware that Blackrock has been buying up housing and real estate for inflated prices so they can rent them out to you later at inflated prices.
Oh boy, tinfoil hat time. Once again, this isn't about any one single individual or group, these are problems that mostly existed before Gates or Soros were born, and will continue to exist long after they're dead. Assuming we don't do anything about them, anyway.I am also aware that Bill gates has been buying up huge amounts of farm land and water rights and that he wants you to eventually eat bugs. I'm with you on that. However, a total reboot would mean ditching capitalism and exiling or executing all the bumbling billionaire dipshits who put us in this bad position to begin with, Trump very much included. He had four years in office and never even proposed a solution, let alone acted on one. Either total naivety or gaslighting to pretend a narcissistic billionaire landlord would fix the housing market when he profits from its brokenness.your country needs a total reboot ... Trump
Way ahead of you champ, the US is perpetually tumbling down the international rankings when it comes to happiness index. Precisely why we need to be making actual changes now, instead of just hunting for our next scapegoat when the status quo inevitably fails us again.if you continue down the path you are on you are not going to be happy.
That doesn't make any sense unless you paid the full cash balance for a house, how would you even get a mortgage? As soon as you do that property belongs to the bank until you have paid the full balance + interest, default on the loan or miss a few payments and the property belongs to the bank and so does all the interest you paid and whatever value the house has made since you took out the loan. Banks have been operating like this for hundreds of years and they will continue to do this until there is no banks.Banks buying up all the housing is the biggest part of the problem. If we could stop that, then houses wouldn't be so unreachable for us PEOPLE.
Pardon me for being honest, but you're one of the dumbest, anti-humanity pricks I've ever met, so let me break down reality for your stupid ass:That doesn't make any sense, how would you even get a mortgage? If houses are unreachable for you it's because you don't make enough money to buy one and the prices are inflated because of demand outstripping supply. I.E too many people but not enough housing to go around, flooding your county with millions of migrants isn't helping - it's time your government got control of its own borders and stopped worrying about eveyone else's.
Now, Now, resorting to name calling because you don't like what someone said - that behaviour is a bit fascist and worthy of a true dictator.Pardon me for being honest, but you're one of the dumbest, anti-humanity pricks I've ever met, so let me break down reality for your stupid ass:
1.) Banks in the U.S. buy up all the housing as soon as they hit the market, which gives them a huge unfair advantage. The house builders don't care because they get paid the full amount instantly, leaving the banks to nickel and dime the next suspecting buyers, preying on them with things like "interest" and taking advantage of the "buyer's market" bullshit.
2.) If banks didn't run the housing market, the companies that build the houses could sell them directly to families at a much lower cost than the greedy banks would. But since you're on the rich prick's side, you don't want to hear that, you'd rather suck corporate dick for some reason and blame the victims that can't afford the housing (due to the bank's price gouging) as if they're going to cut you a check. I'll never understand that type of weird virtue signaling, but you do you I guess...
Nobody is "illegal", you're just racist. Now, Now, resorting to name calling because you don't like what someone said - that behaviour is a bit fascist and worthy of a true dictator.
You are living on stolen land, land that rightfully belongs to the Native Americans. You also don't have enough money to buy any of that land outright because your wages are crap and you haven't been able to save up the cash to buy a house outright or pay the deposit for a mortgage - so it's the banks fault for being a bank and operating like a bank. Do you just want someone to give you "free land" that belongs to someone else?
For hundreds of years people have been borrowing money from banks to pay for a house, the fact you don't want to do this or can't means you are going to be a forever renter, other people can afford to buy a house or take out a mortgage though, what makes them special compared to you? I anticipate you will be able to answer that without any ad hominems, however I'll just tell you - they work and saved up and they got educated or moved somewhere they could get a job and were able to afford. That's all there is to it, there's nothing more.
Also you still fail to accept that millions of illegals flooding into your open borders is having an impact on housing and house prices, go figure that one. Even my little niece knows that if she has 10 sweets and 9 of her friends come round, she is only going to be left with 1 for herself and that single sweet has more value to her now than it did before - she can comprehend economics, something you seem to be struggling with as an adult.
Also, ALL western countries operate in the same way, it isn't going to change in your lifetime - if you want to be happy you should probably move somewhere else - Asia or Commie China perhaps?
That phrase has no meaning when you try to use it to smear someone when you don't like what they say. People breaking into your country without visa's or permission are breaking the law and are classed as illegal immigrants. It seems that along with no basic understanding of economics, you also have no understanding of the law or what the word Racist actually means.Nobody is "illegal", you're just racist.
Your whole "it its what it is, suck it up" attitude is the entire problem with our economy. It doesn't have to be this way, is what I'm getting at. It's setup in a very shitty way to exploit people all along the way, and it needs to change. But of course the people pulling the strings don't want it to change, they're thriving at the top, throwing money at all their problems. That phrase has no meaning when you try to use it to smear someone when you don't like what they say. You live in USA - do you honestly think anywhere in the western world is any different? Nowhere in the west is different - you seem to hate the way of life in the west though, that's why you should move somewhere more to your liking where you will be happy. I figure you're too much of a pussy to move though, it's easier just to whine about your life and expect handouts and eveyone to change to fit with how you want to live rather than the other way around. I suspect you are going to be miserable for the rest of your days because you lack the drive for self improvement, oh well - suck it up I guess.
